Access and Inclusion

Our Commitment

The South West Development Commission is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and accessible community through our services, programs and facilities.

We aim to ensure everyone can access our information, services and spaces, and feels welcomed, valued and respected regardless of ability.

Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2024-29

The SWDC is included in the overarching Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) Access and Inclusion Plan 2024-29. This Plan outlines how we aim to address barriers to access and inclusion in our workforce, across our buildings, the provision of our services and accessible information.

The five year plan identifies strategies to improve access and inclusion across seven outcome areas. These are:

People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to access the services of, and events organised by DPIRD and the Regional Development Commission.

People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to access DPIRD and Regional Development Commission buildings and facilities.

People with disability can readily receive and access information from DPIRD and the Regional Development Commissions in an appropriate format that suits their needs.

People with disability receive the same level and quality of service as other people from DPIRD and the Regional Development Commissions.

People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to make complaints to DPIRD and the Regional Development Commissions.

People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to participate in any public consultation conducted by DPIRD and the Regional Development Commissions.

People with disability have the same opportunities as other people to obtain and maintain employment with DPIRD and the Regional Development Commissions. DPIRD Access and Inclusion Plan 2024–29

Accessibility

SWDC is committed to making our website accessible in line with recognised standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).  We will continue to review and improve our website to enhance useability for all users.

SWDC offices are accessible for all people with disabilities. This includes lift access that supports wheelchair users and people with mobility access, automatic doors, ramp gradients, accessible toilets and braille inscribed signs for toilets.
